Against The World

(7-31-03)

Autistic boy,
Rocking against
The world.
Clenched to prevent
All frightening things.
Silent or lashing,
Content or murderous,
I am
Black and white.
Science has not found a way to
Light the colors of
My mind.
Emotional contortionist.
Reflected in the
Physical realm.
No small feat to
Bind me.
I wriggle free.
Expand myself
While being tied
So I might find it
Easy to escape the grasp
Of silly human ropes.
Houdini child.
Plunge me deep and breathlessly
In blackened waters.
Small bundle tossed
Against the night off
Some dark and lonely bridge.
Downstream,
Moonlight reflects
The opening of
Discarded souls.
